I don't post on Reddit much, but I thought of this the other day, and figured this would be a good place to show my collection and tell a little story for those who care.
Growing up, my teachers thought I was “delayed" in my reading because I was not reading at the levels they expected. The thing is, I could read just fine, but I was the kind of kid where if I didn't WANT to do something, I usually just didn't do it. I knew I had to do important stuff whether I liked it or not, but if it wasn't "important”, I didn't do it, and reading what somebody ELSE wanted me to read , kind of fell into this category.
I had no problem reading stuff I was interested in, but they wanted me to read the approved books and worksheets that I could care less about, so to them it looked like I couldn't read it all.
Finally, when they let us pick our own books to read for a book report, I chose “Redwall” because I saw the show on TV. Needless to say, the teacher was shocked that the kid who they thought couldn't read, was reading a 400 page chapter book 🤣.
After that I began to collect “Redwall” books and when I finally got some adult money, bought and thrifted most of them. I actually lucked out one day and got the entire NA paperback set, all 22 books, at Value Village (Canadian ‘Goodwill’), at once for $35!
Some of the rare books I picked up on eBay 10 to 15 years ago for a fraction of what they go for now. Especially the UK first edition Redwall and Mossflower.
I also had the chance to purchase some very rare items such as the Julie London figurines and advanced-reader copies that I'm still kicking myself for not buying 15 years ago, but I digress.
Anyway, here is my collection, thank you for reading if you've come this far, I figure this is the one place I can talk about this where people will care lol. Thank you.
