Recreating the heart of Disneyland Paris in LEGO - Sleeping Beauty Castle

“To all who come to this happy place, welcome...”

This model is a tribute to the breath-taking design of Disneyland Paris, one of the most beautiful Disney parks in the world, and my personal favourite. The aim was to build a creation that captures the magic and wonder of this amazing theme park. LEGO has already celebrated the iconic castles from the Florida and California parks with official sets, but I truly believe the Paris park deserves a set of its own!

At the heart of the build is Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant, inspired by French Gothic and Loire Valley château architecture, with exaggerated fairy-tale features that make Disneyland Paris Castle feel uniquely magical. The towers were carefully scaled using a mix of round elements, arches and custom shaping techniques to capture the castle’s varied structure, including the octagonal central keep. Light nougat bricks matched the castle’s pink tones best, while brown timber detailing, pearl gold spires and blue conical roofs recreated its distinctive colour palette.

The lower half of the build includes the defensive walls, Fantasyland-inspired houses, terraces and the rocky escarpment hillside with stylised trees inspired by the original artwork from Sleeping Beauty. Hidden throughout the model are several Disney easter eggs, including the dragon beneath the castle, a removable tower section revealing the entrance hall interior, and miniature recreations of the bridge, moat and Théâtre du Château.

The entire model sits on a reinforced LEGO Technic base strong enough to safely support and move the full display.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the build so far! This model not only showcases the impressive castle icon. It also all five of the lands themed lands of Disneyland Park, recreated at a smaller scale to offer the builder a chance to explore the park from a bird’s eye view! Once I've finished the real build, I would love to do another post later showing detailed shots of these, and the complete model in full.

I hope I've designed a fitting tribute to this amazing theme park! If there’s anything you think would make it even better, I’d genuinely love to hear it.

If you want to see the build come together in timelapse form, the videos are up on my YouTube channel: I'm Rebuilding Disneyland Paris in Lego...

Rebuilding the magic of Disneyland Paris in LEGO - my Sleeping Beauty Castle project

I’ve started building a LEGO recreation of Disneyland Paris, beginning with Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant - Sleeping Beauty Castle!

I’ve always felt this park deserves more LEGO attention, so I decided to design it from scratch as a full build project capturing the atmosphere, architecture, and storytelling of the real thing.

So far I’ve built the base structure, lower castle walls, gardens, moat, bridges, and early Fantasyland-style surroundings. The design also includes hidden structural details, modular sections, and a hollow interior (including a dragon dungeon you can view through a hidden cave).

This is only the beginning! I’ll be expanding it in stages as a full build series.

I would love to know what you all think! Let me know what your love about this Disney park castle in particular, and if there's anything you’d want to see included later in the build!

I’m also posting timelapse build videos on my YouTube channel if anyone wants to follow the process: I’m Rebuilding Disneyland Paris in LEGO… (Part 1)

I’m recreating Disneyland Paris in LEGO – starting with the castle (Build Series - Part 1)

I’ve started designing and building a LEGO recreation of Disneyland Paris, beginning with the iconic castle. The aim was to build a creation that captures the magic and wonder of this amazing theme park. LEGO has already celebrated the iconic castles from the Florida and California parks with official sets, but I truly believe the Paris park deserves a build of its own!

Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant - the park’s Sleeping Beauty Castle - is inspired by French Gothic and Loire Valley château architecture. The original Imagineers added whimsical fairy-tale elements to give it a more enchanting, otherworldly feel compared to traditional French castles across France.

This is the beginning of a full build series documenting the project in stages as it develops. More sections will follow as the model expands.

The project began with a strong circular base structure built using Technic bricks for stability and wedge plates to form the shape. Hidden structural bricks contain Mickey and Donald colours, while the exterior was covered in grey plates for a clean foundation.

With the base complete, I moved on to constructing the castle’s lower environment, including defensive-style walls, gardens, a moat, bridges, and surrounding Fantasyland-inspired buildings. The layout includes features such as hinged side walls to match the castle’s hexagonal shape, modular back sections and detailed landscaping including the side escarpment with the square trees inspired by the original sleeping beauty film.

Further development includes the stained-glass chapel section at the back with it's wooden roof and bell tower. The 2 side terraces were added as separate builds and attached with hinges, with open archways leading to the Fantasyland area. The interior areas were designed to remain hollow, including the dungeon that houses the iconic dragon animatronic, which can be viewed through a hidden cave opening within the rockwork. The entrance hall inside the castle is also included, with the tree-shaped stone columns supporting the upper level balcony.

Feedback is welcome!
