2014 Ford Explorer (Base) - Electric Power Steering (EPS) failure common?

Inherited a '14 Explorer with only 80k miles. Within a year I was getting the "power steering assist fault" error which I could fix by restarting. Eventually that didn't work and I lost all power steering.

This year doesn't appear to be on a recall. Quoted $2200 for new Rack and Pinion Assembly install.

Since I got the Explorer for free, I'm open to doing this, but is this failure common? Going to happen again? Awful expensive repair for an 85k vehicle. Not a fan of EPS...

"That’s Brisk, baby!” (1997)

I still remember these Claymation ads from the late '90s. The tea is still around, but I only drank it when Rocky did.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Dell Computers sought to distinguish itself in a rapidly growing and competitive market.

"Steven", portrayed by Ben Curtis, was introduced as the enthusiastic, tech-savvy teenager in Dell’s commercials. His signature line was.... “Dude, you’re getting a Dell,”

Everyone was out to steal your car's CD player! It was a big deal.

Had to remove the detachable cd player faceplate and put it into the case to take with you.

Watched this as a kid in the 90s on HBO. The Crypt Keeper scared the crap out of me!

After 37 years, it's finally available to stream on Shudder! Sam Zimmerman, Shudder’s former SVP of acquisitions, spent years getting the rights. It had been in streaming purgatory mainly due to EC Comics owning the licensing.
