This is the second EG kit I've built with my son who's about to turn 4. We did the EG RX-78-2 kit first, then this one. We had accidentally broke one of the red wings while building the jetpack accessory last night. I glued it back together and plan to surprise him with it fixed when he gets home from preschool today.
We started with an SD kit for our first Gunpla. My son really enjoyed putting together the bigger plastic pieces, but all the stickers in the SD kit were very frustrating (for both of us). Decided to try and Entry Grade with him and this one was a lot of fun! Going to try a couple more Entry Grade models with him before stepping up to HG.
It is a really great exercise in patience and delayed gratification for a kid his age. It's also been teaching him to be more gentle with his toys and put them back together himself. He's quickly learning that if he plays rough with the Gunpla models they fall apart, which he doesn't want to happen after we worked hard building them.
