I just graduated Grade 12 in Thailand. I want to skip local enrollment and take 1–2 gap years to self-study AP Micro and Macroeconomics to apply for a BA in Economics at an Ivy League. (Background: Domestic school, My school didn't offer U.S./International curriculum/ or any AP)

  • Is it enough? If I spend 2 years on "just" 2 APs, will Admissions Officers see that as "doing nothing," or does the focus on rigor help? What should I navigate to?

*Constraints: Research and Internship in Thai usually available for undergraduates and above.

  • Freshman vs. Transfer: Should I apply as a first-year after the gap, or is it better to start at a Thai uni and try to transfer? (I’ve heard Ivy transfers are nearly impossible)(Thai Enrollment: Bachelor or (Thai) Law degree? *Just realised I like Economics more.*

- AP Importance: Do these scores actually help with admissions for international students, or just for credit?

Please help navigating me.I really want to enroll in Top university of The Ivies.

Can't deny; I’m worried about looking "behind" by taking 2 years off. "Is this a solid plan or a risk?"*

Hey everyone, if I’m currently a 2nd-year Law student in Thailand (studying in Thai). I’ve recently realized that my true passion is Economics, and I want to transfer to a BA in Economics at an Ivy League school or a top-tier UK university (LSE, Oxford, etc.). (Plan) I know this is a huge jump.

-Has anyone here successfully transferred from a completely different major and a non-English speaking program to a top US/UK school?

-Transfer vs. Fresh Start: Do top schools even accept transfers from a Law background into Economics, or would I have to apply as a freshman? Credits: Since my current law degree is very localized, is it likely that any credits will transfer? Should I apply as a first-year undergraduate?

-Is it necessary to take AP exams at this stage if I'm planning to transfer? Also, if I decide to apply as a first-year instead, do AP scores still matter?

-Do I need to start over from Year 1? How much do they weigh high school grades vs. my current uni grades? Any advice or "reality checks" would be appreciated!
