Curious about this coin, looking for expert eyes and sleuths
I recently purchased this coin in a rope chain closure. It’s a 1891 $2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle. I didn’t think too much at the time of purchase and got a really good deal. A little over spot, so it was all in order. When I had some more time I wanted to know more about this coin and sure enough googling this coin got me a little excited since it matched a lot of specifications which I think make the coin special. I was also surprised that the coin shop didn’t catch all the details of what I think made this coin special.
Without giving anything away, I am posting this for the Reddit gold sleuths to confirm or point out the truth of this coin- based on what they know about this coin. I am ready to be disappointed so just seeing what people out there have to say about this coin.
Hint: the year and E and M in America. And the right wing tip. Looking to learn.
