I recently had to buy a new phone, but my Acer laptop cannot read it for the purposes of file transfer. It can see it, and charge it, but refuses to treat it as a storage device. Device manager claims that its drivers are "not installed." I have:

  • Installed the latest motorola drivers from this website
  • Tried multiple cords
  • Tried all the USB ports on my laptop
    • Checked to see that all the drivers for said USB ports are up to date
  • Enabled file transfer from the options menu on my phone, after it has been connected
  • Plugged it into a family member's laptop (Asus G814JZ from 2023/4), and it does work there, including with one of the cords that does not work in mine

No luck. Any thoughts or further leads would be welcomed because this is driving me up the wall.
