Trying to find a YA/contemporary novel that I read in high school. Probably 90s or early 2000s. Teenagers at a beach during summer break, romance/love story elements, a car driven off a pier/a cliff into the ocean and trapped in an underwater crevice so divers couldn’t recover it. Cover had painted 90s art style.

I think it might've taken place in California but idk.
