What if….
You were given an option to “skip” picking a skill whenever there was a bad roll of choices?
Your XP would be preserved and you would simply get nothing when you skip, but when you level up to the next level, you now get to pick twice: three random skills, then three more for the skipped level up.
Essentially a reroll option but delayed til the next level up.
Keeps the RNG aspect, but gives the player a risk-reward choice to try and mitigate the RNG.
