I am in the process of getting a secret clearance for an internship at a DoD contractor. I just called my contractors security office and they said they saw two investigations closed for me? Apparently I am just waiting on adjudication. Here is my timeline:
SF86 and fingerprints submitted: November 2025
Interview: Late December 2025
First investigation closed?: Late February 2026
Second investigation closed?: Late March 2026
None of my contacts were called and I haven’t been contacted at all since the interview.
Does anyone know why I could have two investigations for the same clearance and how that could affect my adjudication timeline?
