How do I effectively review my own replays?

I play tank and support, roughly 50/50 split. I am high gold for both, peak plat 5 for support. I want to improve, so a GM friend of mine suggested watching my own replays. He gave me some tips for things to look for, but it was all kind of vague.

Specific heros I play are: (If this matters)

Tank - Dva (main), Orisa, Reinhardt

Support - Moira (main), Baptiste, Mizuki, Kiriko

For tank, I find that I either dominate or get destroyed, no in between. I try to be aware of where my team is. Right now my biggest struggle is that it feels like I can't take space, because I take damage so fast.

For support, I typically have the highest heals and damage of all supports in my games. I feel like despite this, I can't seem to have enough of an impact to carry my team. Right now my biggest struggle is being aware of my teams location if they arent with me in a fight.

My questions are:

  • How do I determine what a good replay to watch is? Should they be wins, losses, close games, long games, etc.
  • When watching a replay, what view should I use? Free cam, 3P viewing self, 3P viewing team, 3P viewing enemy
  • How do I know what I am doing wrong? What do "good" positioning, gamesense, and mechanics look like so I can identify where I can improve at?
  • How do I know if I am doing something good? I am sure I am not always doing something wrong, so I need to know how to identify when there is/isn't something to improve on.
  • What are some tips for applying what I learn from my replays to my actual games?

Any advice helps! Goal is diamond by the end of the year.
