I built an app to stay organized with my girlfriend, and now we can't stop competing.

Two years ago, I moved in with my girlfriend, and since then it's been surprisingly hard to stay organized at home. We never really knew who was responsible for what, or whose turn it was to do certain chores.

So, being a programmer, I started building Mushom as a side project with no real expectations.

After a year of developing and testing it ourselves at home, I can honestly say I ended up creating an app that genuinely helps us stay organized. Now we even compete to see who earns the most points each week it's become ridiculously fun.

The app has a points system for completing tasks, plus rewards you can add yourself and redeem with those points, which makes it surprisingly addictive. Not only do you want to win, but knowing you can cash in your points for rewards makes it even more motivating.

No joke I've already redeemed the "dinner at my favorite restaurant" reward that my girlfriend added three times.

In case anyone wants to check it out (iOS & Android):

Has anyone else built something to solve a personal problem at home? Curious if others have tried similar approaches.

Hey everyone,

A while back I got frustrated with every chore app I tried. They all do the same thing: create a task, check it off. That's it. No real motivation, no teamwork, no fun.

So I built my own.

It's called Mushom, and it's designed for people living together couples, roommates, families. The idea is to make household management actually engaging:

- Points system for completed tasks

- Custom rewards (you define them dinner out, a free afternoon, whatever)

- Weekly shared goal (GOAL) that resets automatically

- Shared expenses tracker

- Real-time shared lists

- Home chat + calendar

The key difference from other apps is the GOAL: it's a weekly target the whole household works toward together. It creates a sense of collective achievement that I haven't seen in any other home management app.

We've been using it ourselves for 3+ months and honestly haven't stopped. Competing for points to win rewards makes it weirdly addictive.

Just launched v1.0 on both App Store and Google Play. Would genuinely love honest feedback from people who struggle with home organization.

Happy to answer any questions!
