Got the 1ZPresso K Ultra. Please suggest the best light/medium roasts you have enjoyed with pour over (not switch or aeropress).
I have already tried a bunch with my existing Timemore C3s:
- Naivo's Rose culture naturals - rose was abundant. But not sure if cofermented or if it's really the processing.
- Devan's black honey - not a light roast btw but it wasn't giving me anything
- Devan's plantation AAA - good only as french/aeropress or cold brew
- Bili Hu Thogarihunkal - good for aeropress or mokapot. Pour over was okay. It's a dark roast so not really pour over suited
- Fraction 9 - I had tried some samples last year - don't remember. The one that was most popular was Mind=Blown which didn't blow my mind. Maybe it was me who wasn't brewing it correctly.
- Tulum - Barbara estate - have tried from Cred and from website directly. Ok in pour over. Did used to give astringent/acidic and berry like flavors. But nothing exceptional. Liked it in pour over.
- Bloom - have tried samples from them and liked Salawara light roast and Venkids something. I have ordered from them again. 6 varieties - 75g samples.
- Greysoul - I think it's too expensive but given that I've spent almost 23k on K Ultra, I think I should not worry about paying Rs 900 for a 200g packet of their best - Mogra etc. Will try
- Genetics coffee - I have scourged their website many times but never bought. Something was off putting.
- Roastery Coffee House - same as genetics. I used to find them too expensive.
- Kapi Kottai sampler packs - I had I think the Agaro manual ceramic grinder back then. So yeah maybe it was me but I didn't find a single one of them to be great. They were ok. One of the dark roasts was good in french press though.
There are more roasters that I have checked out after checking all the recommendations from the sub, but I felt like I needed to create this post to get fresh recommendations as of mid 2026 - because we all know lots of coffees don't keep coming all the time. For example, Mind=Blown is not available anymore.
And now that I have the K Ultra and I have lot more knowledge on pour over and brewing in general, I want to know from the guys that really get the notes advertised from their light roasts in pour over, and bonus points if you have the K Ultra and can share the exact recipe and grind setting!
Thank you if you've read so far! Please contribute so others in the same boat can be helped too!
