I have worked in the test centre for 2 years now and I have noticed majority of students do not want to use the toilet during break time. For the SHS, there are 3 x10 min breaks between tests where they may use the restroom (if requested) and a long 20 min break where they have something to eat and use the restroom. For the OC, there are 2 x 10 min breaks. If the student has an approved Reasonable adjustment for break, they can request the break anytime. We always ask them if they want to use the toilet before the 1st test starts and during the short breaks. All of the students in my room did not want to use the toilet at all during their 3 short breaks. They are also allowed to bring a clear bottle of water and I did not see any kids drink, not even a sip. During the long break, they did not want to take the water with them. I can not imagine how a kid not drink water for a few hours? It made me wonder if there are any adult, tutor or coaching college tell them not to drink so they don't go to the toilet and wasting test time. I really hope this is not the case. If anyone out there have advised the kid not to drink water, please STOP right away. I think enough hydration is important for their health. They are not wasting any test time. Besides, using the toilet during break, have a bit of a stretch and have some fresh air (if the toilet is outside) is good for them anyway.
