Trouble scoring an internship

I'm a first-Gen masters student and I just completed my first semester after graduating with my bachelor's in May of 2025. I'm within a molecular and cell biology masters program for reference. My program requires us to get a 10-week, 40/hr a week internship. They are very strict about the fact that it has to be full time for at least 10 weeks.

I started applying/emailing professors in January and have continued to apply and email. I've either gotten rejected or ghosted. I had a single response from one PI, but after talking with him, he thinks my passion for forensic science would make me a better fit for another lab.

I had my advisor and program coordinator look at my cover letter and resume, so those are up to date and refined. I just feel lost and almost hopeless from the constant rejection and the "I feel like you'd be fit for a different lab" (mostly getting told this bc my bachelor's is in forensic science).

I'm just looking for some advice. Am I SOL 😭?

Summer Internship Struggles

I'm a masters student in the PSM program. Is anyone else struggling tooth and nail to get a summer internship?

I had my advisor look over my resume and cover letter, so those are up to date and refined. I starting applying to summer internships in January, emailed professor after professor, and still haven't gotten anything.

Am I just SOL 😭?

Internship struggles

Hi everyone,

I'm a first-Gen masters student and I just finished my first semester at school! My program requires us to get a 10-week, 40 hr/day internship. They are very strict about the fact that it has to be a full time internship.

Anyways, I've applied to numerous online internships outside of my school and emailed probably 20 PI's about summer research. I got a single response, but after talking to him, he said he thinks I'm better somewhere else.

I just want to know if this is normal. I'm stressing since I do need an internship to graduate, and even after I do that internship I need to write a report on it and my advisor said that that can take students months.

I feel very lost and hopeless as of right now.

I would appreciate any advice!
