I’ve always wanted to do EM even before medical school - I absolutely LOVE it but it’s just not hitting the same recently - dunno what it is but I think I’m just not liking what it’s becoming sadly :( I’m not massively career orientated, have taken my time (currently early 30’s), spent some time locuming/having fun etc. I have been doing CESR in EM which has worked out incredibly well for my personal circumstances as it’s allowed me to have my kids, buy a house and make a great group of friends, but now I’m thinking of switching to anaesthetics? My intelligence level is medium at best, I have sat and passed all of my MRCEM exams and will have completed all of my competencies to enter HST by the end of the year so will technically be CT3 I suppose…? So just looking for a bit of advice as to what would be the best route into anaesthetics? Ideally would like to stay local to where I am geographically, want to have more kids soon and not have to redo all my acute med, critical care and anaesthetics placements all over again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I’m aware my circumstances are a bit odd. Also I have considered GP but my personality isn’t really suited to it which is why I’m not exploring that. Thanks in advance
