Hey all, could use some advice. My girl is almost four and has been fine being left alone since she was a puppy. I crated trained her right away with no problems, stopped crating her when i was gone when she was a year old. Still crating at night to keep the crate training.
Then a few months ago she started throwing little fits when I’d leave so i increased exercise and started giving her chews or hiding treats before i left. This pic is from an eight mile hike before my night shift. I lock her in the living room with a metal gate that’s drilled into the doorframe. Normal routine. I came home to find she had ripped the bars off the gate and had started scratching up my front door.
So i started crating her when i left again, no longer crating at night. And we were good for a few weeks, then i came home to find blood splatter all over my bedroom and she had ripped the front of the crate off (not just the door the entire front). Couldn’t find the source of the blood as her teeth and paws were fine.
Now I’m having to tie her to my bed via harness not wearing her collar. It’s a risk i know that but I’m out of options until i can save up to afford a better crate. But even then i plan to go back to square one with crate training, i don’t want her so stressed out all the time when i leave and want to try and help her now. She’s my best friend and i don’t know where this anxiety is coming from but really want to help her.
