This was originally for r/AskPsychology but then I realized you can't post personal anecdotes there lol.

Sometimes I will be writing and I'll have to sit for 5-10 seconds or longer to remember a word. Sometime I can just sit there and the word will come, but often I will need to use active methods, like rereading the paragraph, looking up potential synonyms, asking an LLM based on context, etc. It usually happens for uncommon words, but still words I know and have used plenty of times before. This all sucks because I write a lot and it really slows me down.

I understand this behavior is normal, to an extent, but I am confident I have it worse than most. Why? Is there a name for this? What are the solutions or mitigations? Hopefully someone here is a psychologist and can answer this from that perspective as well. Thanks!
