How do you keep yourself from falling down the tankie pipeline?
Had a tankie almost pull me in the other day with a bit of gish gallopy text. Rather eloquent compared to the annoying ones we see on here but used arguments of "the conditions of the day" and justifying authoritarianism by the claim of "preserving the revolution" and "defending against capitalists" and China's surveillance state as "caricature of western media"
Not to mention other talking points like "When you use terms like "tankie" to dismiss anyone who refuses to repeat Western propaganda, you are doing the empire's work for free." like everything critical of these regimes are "Western propaganda" and is pro "state power" and other talking points that sound very ML.
Of course that shit turns my stomach a bit. And even with her convincing words my moral compass was pointing in the opposite direction.
Looked at her profile and she's basically a regular of SLS and TDP and other mainstream socialist subs. At least she denounced ACP BS.
Of course we both agree that communism is good. I just have a heart that's just warm enough to object to authoritarian rule no matter the reason, and is probably the reason it's harder for me to fall in.
To be honest the mtf sub does have a bit of a tankie problem but it's not common when they actually bring that out.
(honestly i feel the only way to go is for the US to collapse and everything follows as there's no US to meddle with your country)
