What Should Baseball in Washington Feel Like?
Something that’s been gnawing at me recently is the attendance at Nats Park. For the most part, we know why this is happening: the team just isn’t very good right now. Owners won’t spend money. Bullpen sucks. Rebuild fatigue. We hear it all the time. And to some extent, all of that is true.
Yes, winning matters. Yes, ownership needs to spend money. But rebuilding a franchise should involve more than just the roster. I wrote about the Nationals’ identity problem, Washington baseball history, uniforms, Navy Yard, and what this team should actually feel like moving forward.
