This is from a solo campaign I ran for a friend. His character is the Orc with the Cloak of Stars and the railgun. Mauricio, his character, is fighting along side his NPC Harrengon companion, Darrion Shorthair, against the Demon Princes White Dragon companion. In the background, the Court of Stars Queens Consort, Gwynharwyf, is dueling the Demon Prince, Kostchtchie.
Mauricio, while traveling with his friends on the material plane, used his Cloak of Stars to escape from a being consumed by a shambling mound. Appearing in the Astral Plane, he saw a multitude of colored discs floating nearby. Not knowing what they were, he flew into one (For those who don’t know, these discs are portals to other planes of existence. Since he entered one, he just cut off his ability to travel back to the material plane with his Cloak of Stars. This forced me to remove him from the main campaign and start a separate campaign for him set around the Sigil.)
After several adventures, Mauricio and Darrion were contracted by the Court of Stars to infiltrate Kostchtchie’s Abyssal realm to rescue the captured Consort and Berserker of Legend, Gwynharwyf (I had to create an entirely new statblock for her since she hasn’t been in setting since 3e.)
Traveling there, the two adventures, using guile and stealth, infiltrated the Giants fortress and found Gwynharwyf impaled with her own swords, chained to the ground. Freeing her and feeding her several superior healing potions, they attempted to leave, but Gwynharwyf would not leave, as this was her best chance at permanently killing Kostchtchie, since he was in his own Abyssal plane.
Fighting their way to the throne room through waves of Frost Giants, the trio confronted Kostchtchie and his Ancient White Dragon companion. A harrowing duel followed, but the trio emerged victorious. Mauricio and Darrion handled the White Dragon and slew it with practiced marksmanship. Gwynharwyf proved her might over the Demon Prince, snuffing his demons soul out of existence, never to be reformed.
Mauricio and Darrion were rewarded greatly; Gwynharwyf fashioning two sets of Dragonscale mail for each person herself from the body of the White Dragon and many of the magical treasures from Kostchtchie, such as a manual on how to create an Iron Golem, a Horn of Valhalla, and Kostchtchie’s own Maul, Matalotok.
This was not the end of Mauricio and Darrion’s dealings with the Court of Stars, as their offer to assist in slaying their most hated foe, the Prince of Pleasure, would be far more difficult and harrowing than slaying Kostchtchie.
OP’s note: Below is listed the Gwynharwyf statblock I created for this adventure, as well as the rifle that Mauricio uses, also made by me. The original setting he was from was a recovered apocalypse world (ala Rifts) where the previous Civ. was very tech. advanced.
