My husband and I are looking for a new church home, but we’re struggling to find a place that doesn't feel like a political rally. We are looking for a congregation that is actually politically moderate. I prefer when a leader acknowledges different perspectives on a topic and encourages the congregation to study and decide for themselves, rather than just delivering a one-sided lecture. Specifically, we’re looking for a place that:
Is Politically Neutral:
Does not support PACs or use the pulpit to push specific candidates/legislation or legalistic ideology.
Prioritizes People over Platforms: Doesn't require a "staunch" or dogmatic stance on hot-button issues like abortion or LGBTQ+ rights as a barrier to entry.
Is Truly Welcoming: We’ve experienced a lot of "we welcome you but condemn your sin" rhetoric at conservative churches, and we’re tired of it. We want a place that is genuinely inclusive without being a "clearly progressive/liberal" church, as my husband isn't quite comfortable there yet.
We just want a community that focuses on faith and service. Any suggestions?
Edit to add that we actually live in Kuna, but not discouraged by a commute, as long as its not crazy far
