My kids love wooden trains, and now that they’ve seen the move Unstoppable they want to recreate the movie with their trains. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any commercial sources for these, so I had to pick up my own paint brushes and get to work.
The 777 was a beat up Circo yellow train that I painted and applied decals. After I gave this one to them, they asked about the 767 and 1206! So I knew I had some work to do.
The Prixton molten phenol car was one that was well worn and I gave it new life with some paint and decals. The two Transgrain hoppers were broken parts that were just wheels, so I fashioned the cars from scrap wood. The 767 and 1206 were blue construction trains I bought on eBay. For 1206 I sanded off some of the details and applied new decals, but didn’t repaint.
I’ve seen others do a version of 777, but I hadn’t seen the full set of engines and cargo represented in wooden trains before. I think they turned out well, and I’m sure the kids will flip when I give them to them.
Let me know what you think!
