Current Status of Deep Dale Cemetery?

Happy mother’s day everyone. It reminded me, even though I’ve since moved away, of my grandma, who is buried at Deep Dale in the Lansing area.

Does anyone know by chance, how the cemetery is doing these days? I should make a trip back eventually to check on my grandma’s lot.

Seeking Opinions on Covering Attic Access

Step dad had me get into his attic from the pull down ladder in their garage. There’s an opening from there to the attached house’s attic, about 36x18 up there. Looks like someone cut it out with a sawzall to get access. 5/8 dry wall.

Step dad requests it be removable in case someone else wants to access it. I’d rather just seal it off, dry wall mud and tape it, have it all closed off and done for them.

I’m curious, is there a middle ground where I pop the new piece of dry wall in, screw it into the new studs I’ll put into place, and just don’t mud & tape it, that it’ll still be easily removable enough? just pop the screws out for whoever wants to go in there?

Unfortunately due to their age and confusion/ dementia there’s some confusion around who made the opening to begin with, how long it’s been there, how they discovered it, etc. That’s a new task for me in itself. So for now I’m just trying to help them the best I can.

So, I guess just seeking outside opinions and insights. Hope this is an appropriate post for this sub. Thanks to any thoughts and feedback in advance.

Good morning everyone,

Does anyone remember Informatix? In the mid 2010s they had some kind of bid with the state to help out with MiSDU work?

and had a building off Lake Lansing, tucked away off the bend from the plaza with the Kroger, Burger King, IngCredible, Sir Pizza, etc.

I wonder what the state ended up doing with the MiSDU work, and wonder what happened to everyone who worked for them at that location. Would they have just laid everyone off after the contract ended? Maybe they kept the contract and relocated?

I think they also had a FIDM office inside the building as well.

A random memory from my past in Lansing. Was curious if anyone else remembered them or had any knowledge of what happened to them. Thanks for letting me ask this into the void.

Hi everyone,

Signalment (species, age, sex/neuter status, breed, body weight): Dog, Shitzu x Blue Heeler mix, 9 years old, male, fixed, 30ish pounds

We noticed a bump in our dog’s ear a 2 weeks ago. We went to our vet and they diagnosed it as a hematoma. They also found an ear infection. They prescribed steroids and ear drops.

Unfortunately as time went on the hematoma got larger. The vet recommended at our check up last week to continue the current plan and keep hoping it would absorb and downsize.

Today it was so much bigger, I felt like it was almost half his ear, and felt stiffer to touch, that I took our dog into the vet today, and they drained the mass. Not going under and surgery, they just said they poked it a few times while he was awake to drain it.

They advised we keep a happy hoodie on him to keep the ear in place, and gave us more steroids, more ear wash and ear drops, as well as some 100mg gabapentins to ( I think ) help with pain and discomfort. steroids, ear wash and drops once every day, gabapentin every 8 hours as needed.

We reside in metro Detroit.

I’m just nervous now. He seems even more uncomfortable than before wearing the happy hoodie. When we took it off to do the ear drops and wash, I felt like the mass had already regained some of its liquid.

Did I do the right thing having it drained? Would I have done better by my dog by asking for surgery to have it more thoroughly cleaned out instead? Does this sound like a okay plan of action for now? Wearing the happy hoodie for a week, ear drops and ear wash and steroids once a day, and gabapentin 100mg every 8 hours as needed?

Sorry if this isn’t the right kind of post for this sub. Understand if mods need to delete it. Would welcome any recommendations on better subs to post it in as well.

Thank you all for your time and consideration. I’m just worried about my dog and doubting my parenting abilities at the moment. Just posting about it feels cathartic in itself.
