Hi! I had a new update from a client i shared with few days back. I was expecting a 450usd net profit from active and funded milestone i successfully worked with until upwork paused the contract, the funds was gone from 500 back to 0. I was wondering what happened. I contact client and ask what is happenning, he's playing dumb dumb until i made a ticket to contact support and the agent came back with a response that the client asked a refund to the bank and the reversal was successful. Now escrow doesnt hold any funds, i am trying to wait until 10th of may if there will be funds to be honor to me. I am expecting not but let's see. Basically the refunding part was supposed to be mutual right? Like both parties should agree and if it isnt in favor to one party then they will file a dispute right? In this case the client just bypass all that and successfully refunded his money back.

So us small freelancer who's working tirelessly for a penny dont have any rights to be protected now. Great. I have negative balance to upwork, not a single contract active except this scam client. It's been harder to stay afloat on upwork but i never compained anything about the system, but now i think we should be concern with this hole that clients can easily abuse.

Honestly i could accept it if i mess up the job i always asked my clients how i work and if there is something i need to improve with, all of my clients were satisfied bit this client is the first ever, he seems legit but then again always consider the attitude of the client, he has a volitile french attitude that is so hard to please yet once you explained what is happening in detail he will came back to kind mode. In reality that 500usd is still not enough for the experience i've been through to that client. I remained very professional regardless of him calling me everyday to wake the heck up and start working even if i only got 2 or 3 hours of sleep. I'm not asking for help but i do want to know if we have the right protections or rights to be protected on upwork. I consider myself being scammed outright. I hope this wont happen to you guys.
