I honestly don't know why i can't find any discussion on this, but with the 2024 treasure tables, whenever you roll on the magic item tables , there's a ~60 to 70% chance that it will be a permanent/major item. This vastly differs from 2014 or Xanathars, where only about ~20% are major items and the rest consumables. It also doesn't help that the item reward table and spreadsheet in the new DMG misses the distinction between permanents and consumables.

What caused this major change in game design and do you guys use the new one or abide by the old distribution?
