Best car setup for a Mini Poodle that protects seats but allows a human passenger?
I I have a miniature poodle who currently rides in the passenger’s lap. It’s reached a point where he’s blocking the side mirror view for the driver, and we know it’s not the safest way for him to travel anyway.
We want to move him to the back seat, but we have two main concerns:
- The Car: We want to protect the seats/doors from scratches.
- The Logistics: What if someone sits in the back with him, so I don’t think a full "hammock" will work if it takes up the whole bench.
Has anyone successfully transitioned a "lap dog" to the back? Specifically:
• Are there specific brands of half-hammocks or car booster seats you recommend for a poodle that likes to see out the window?
• What’s the best way to stop him from trying to jump into the front console?
• Any training tips to help him feel secure back there so he doesn't feel "left out"?
Would love to hear what gear actually worked for you and how you handled the training. Thanks in advance!
