Steam account keeps getting stolen immediately after login (even brand new accounts)
Hi, I’m having a serious issue with Steam and I don’t understand what’s happening.
I was playing when I suddenly got logged out. When I tried logging back in, Steam sent a confirmation/security code from “DE” and after that I couldn’t access my account anymore.
When I try to recover my account using my Steam username, it shows a random email address that is not mine. None of my Gmail accounts are linked anymore.
What’s even worse is that I tested this with a completely brand new Steam account using the official Steam app, and it also got taken over right after logging in.
It seems like whoever is doing this is:
- changing the email
- adding their own phone number
- linking their own Steam Mobile Authenticator
I only use the official Steam app and I don’t think I have malware on my PC. I already contacted Steam Support, but I’m really confused how this is happening.
Has anyone seen anything like this before or knows what could cause it?
