Fluid bed roaster proto finally ready!
This was a long process, but I finally finished my first prototype fluid-bed roaster. I'm not super happy with the case quality (tools were not the best), but the next case will be made with white plywood.
At the moment, I can easily roast 1.5 kg batches. Tomorrow I will get an extension tube, and the capacity will grow to 2.5 - 3 kg. The fan and heating element both have plenty of power/capacity to do that.
I have designed the case piping so that hot metal parts will not touch the wood, and the fan will actually cool the pipes during roasting and use radiant heat.
Beans can now be easily ejected by opening the side valve and lifting the middle shaft that has the grid attached.
This roaster will also be moved to my friend's local micro-roastery. Currently, he is roasting with a 1 kg drum roaster, but he has had some serious problems with it. It will be a good test for my roaster.
I will release full roasting videos on my YouTube channel later 😏
If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them all.
