Flashing drives on linux

Hey everyone I am about to pull the trigger on a Buffalo BRXL-PUS6U3B-TAA drive and flash it but I'm on linux (bazzite/fedora) and there seems to be very limited and somewhat confusing instructions on how to flash drives on linux. So I'm trying to figure out if I can even or if it's super difficult and worth it.

Would consider buying one pre flashed to avoid it but seems the guy who does sell pre flashed ones in Canada where I am just doesn't have any from the makemkv page and makes sense since it's super hard to find any drives and the buffalo above is nearly $200 when two months ago it was $130 and verbatim drives also are just gone that I was originally gonna go for. So but if a pickle. Want to start backing up and building a collection for a Nas I am building shortly too so makes it tough when it seems it's gonna be hard to source and make work to back up disks.

I am having trouble with my bazzite system on my second screen (TV) with it changing its refresh rate from 144 back to 120 after each reboot. not too sure how to fix this or if there is a way to force set the system to be at 4k 144 on boot each time. I have to unplug and re plug it at the TV each restart for it to fix the issue since even in the system settings it will show 120 as the highest refresh rate there too.

I am using a DP to HDMI (UGreen) converter cable to reach the above 60 refresh rate as well which doesn't help much to make the setup a little less scuffed. I have seen some have issues with this same setup to LG OLED TVs but mine is a TCL ((65QM850G-CA) - 2023).

Send help gang :(
