I’ve loved Arina Tanemura’s art since I was little. I thought it was beautiful then, and I still do. Where I live, there have been special edition reprints of famous series like Full Moon wo Sagashite, Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, and Time Stranger Kyoko, so I finally got around to buying a few volumes, including the first volumes of Princess Sakura and Full Moon wo Sagashite.

But after looking into some of her other work, I was surprised by how extremely thin some of the girls are drawn! Like “snap-ably” thin! Especially from what I've seen of kamikaze kaito Jeanne and time Stranger kyoko. I’ve also come across quite a few panty shots. I've been kinda hardened against thinly drawn manga-girls/women from sailor moon and the average 90s or 2000s romance and I didn't have problems with princess Sakura from what I remember.

So I wanted to ask people who know Tanemura’s work better: are most of her manga like this? Is this mainly an issue in her older works, or does it continue throughout her bibliography? Or have I just unfortunately landed in the wrong places? I haven’t started Full Moon wo Sagashite yet, and now I’m a little scared. :’D

What are your opinions on her work overall? Would you still recommend some of her other series, or would you suggest looking elsewhere for “good” or classic shōjo manga (in terms of body representation)?
