and it dropped the ball at the climax of the film. I loved most of Undertone, it was honestly so suspenseful for most of the film. I love that kind of horror, I truly think your mind creates the best horror itself without being shown it, but this film picked that up and just couldn't finish with it. Most of the movie was excellently done and blended two mediums well and was able to keep me hooked and anxious without much of anything actually happening. The sound design was very good and I liked the idea for the most part. However, the literal climax of the film, at the very end, was absolutely horrible. What do you mean the end of the film is just 20 seconds of a black screen with sounds?? With a good sound design that can build suspense, but it can't provide a meaningful payoff and there is really only so much work the view can do for you with their imagination. To go hand in hand with that, we don't even get to see the demon that the film is based around in any "true form" sense, it's just the main character's mother. To me, this film really feels like it was 80% done and something occurred that made the creators rush the ending. Maybe they got to that point and were out of money or just didn't know how to end it. I don't know.
