Hey everyone,
I’m one of the owners of a Roblox development team called DedApex Studios, and honestly I’m in a pretty difficult situation right now. Recently, the second owner of the team temporarily left development. He said he might come back within a month or so, but it isn’t guaranteed, and that’s left me trying to manage things mostly on my own. The problem is that right before he left, we were planning a pretty major update for our game, and now I’m not sure if I can realistically handle everything by myself. On top of that, Roblox recently announced the new Roblox premium update, which requires payment in order to expand the game to all age groups on Roblox, and that was something I was originally going to discuss with him before making decisions. I still have a small development team, but a lot of the members are either busy, inactive, so progress has slowed down quite a bit. Because of all this, I decided to take a short break from development since I was starting to feel burnt out and overwhelmed. But during the break, I’ve honestly just been worrying about the future of the game and the studio. Our game has been released for over a month now and we’re still pretty small with only 170 visits, so motivation has been a bit difficult lately too.
I’m mainly posting this to ask for advice from other developers who may have gone through something similar:
How do you manage a team when key members leave?
How do you stay motivated during slow growth?
Should I pause the major update for now and focus on smaller improvements instead?
How can we make the game famous and get noticed by the algorithm?
What can I do to get out of this tough spot?
And if anyone genuinely wants to help out, give suggestions, or even just share their experience, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for reading!
