So I come into my shift today and immediately I’m put in service and the girl who’s spot I’m taking is sent to grill she did not stock anything the entire time she was there everything was empty. Both coffee pots were bone dry the creamer in the creamer dispenser was empty there were no bags of coffee in the container and everything from the ice to the mixes where empty in the frappe machine so I say something to my manager as I’m stocking all of this stuff that this is bull crap I shouldn’t have to come behind and stock literally everything. So the girl on headset didn’t refill anything and the girl running for front counter also didn’t stock anything so she makes me and the front counter person swap spots and I still am stocking all of the things they didn’t. I’m still in the same situation. I move on from that do my job whatever later in my shift she sends me to the grill to break out the same girl who’s spot I took and again she didn’t do anything all of the egg tools from breakfast are still sitting next to the grill she didn’t fill the grill seasoning dispenser just put it in a bowl so I have to go behind her for the second time in one day and do everything she didn’t so I told my manager either let me go home when she comes back from her break or I’m not coming in tomorrow she let me leave early. So did I over react should I have been okay doing that? I always stock while I’m working before I go on break and before I clock out at the end of my shift why should I also have to stock other peoples stuff

I walked into my shift today to a complete mess. They had five service people someone in every position and when I came in two of those service people got sent to the grill and I was left stocking all of the stuff they just left empty the frappe machine had no ice in it. Most if the mixes in the frappe machine were empty there was no cream in the creamer machine the cups were almost gone and needed refilled both coffee pots were empty so I started bitching to the manager that I shouldn’t have to stock all of this so she puts me on the register fine whatever I’ll do that but then later into my shift she sends me into the grill to break out the very same girl she sent to grill when I came in and none of the egg cooking tools were taken back to the sink the grill seasoning dispenser was no where to be found it was all in the dish washer and she couldn’t be bothered looking for it and putting it together so the seasoning was just in a bowl so I then had to come behind her for a second time and do everything she didn’t so I told the manager to either send me home or I’m walking out and not coming back tomorrow. This isnt the first time something like this has happened

My question is when someone calls off does the manager on shift find someone to replace them? We have to call three hours before our shift if we aren’t coming in or it’s a write up but what exactly is the point of calling 3 hours early if the shift doesn’t get covered? They told me once it was so they had time to find someone to cover where the person was missing but I have yet to see anyone cover a shift someone called off.
