I'm researching my ancestor, Dawson Wade Sr (FamilySearch ID LZFP-13T). I've seen many resources claiming that he served during the Revolutionary War. There is even record of his son making the same claim, here: https://www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/23381696.pdf.

However, I'm not able to find any record of him in Fold3, or any record of him at all actually serving in the war. Am I missing something? I admit that I'm new to searching Revolutionary War records, so if anyone has advice, I'd love to hear it.
