Hello - I am new to this group so I apologize if this question is asked a billion times.

I am going to being my search for a mortgage and was curious how many mortgage brokers I should contact? Should I also contact banks and credit unions?

Just looking for an idea on how aggressive to get with my search without damaging my credit score.

Additionally, what are some things I can say to sound like I know what I’m doing versus being a completely clueless newbie? I want to be able to get the best rates (don’t we all?!) without pulling my hair out with endless back and forths. What would make me sound like a person they know they’re going to have to “fight” for my business for?
