Dealing with energy companies
Hey all,
I am writing here because I had an issue with an energy provider. I was looking through reddit and did not get anything useful when dealing with companies with terrible customer service.
So I moved into a new apartment towards the end of year and for the annual bill, they charged me 700 euros extra. And after 3 ish month I was able to get my money back.
I moved into the apartment unaware that hot water is supplied from a separate company and you cannot change the provider. They have bad reviews about their CS. However, I went with it as I have no other choice. Since I wasn't aware of this setup, I also missed the fact that the checkin person did not take a photo of the meter of this company. Anyways, beginning of this year, I got an annual invoice with an extra charge of 700 euros for the days I did not even start living here and the apartment is A rated. Hence I reported it, however my request would just get closed and they would keep asking me the meter picture. I explained that the checkin report didn't have it and I did not move into the apartment and the meter has changed due to maintenance but to no heed.
I used to call like twice a week and still wouldn't hear any progress on my request. Then I resorted to asking chatgpt on what I should do :'). There I got redirected to ACM website. I so on learned that calling doesn't count, there has to be written correspondence. I had sent an email when I received the invoice and a few later on so that was good. They have a link for drafting a letter here. I wrote a letter stating that I want a resolution in 14 working days and if not I will file a complaint with disputes committee. I attached the proof that I emailed and call logs and emailed them with urgent subject. And lo and behold, they decided to respond to that email and refund me my money.
That was all, I hope this helps someone!
