I’m finishing my junior year as a CS + Data Science double major and honestly I feel so lost. I don’t even think I enjoy coding that much, and sometimes it feels like my brain just can’t learn it the way everyone else can. I can handle some Python, but overall I struggle a lot.

Seeing people getting internships and being passionate about tech makes me feel behind, but the bigger issue is I don’t even know what I do enjoy or what career I want anymore. What should I even do at this point? Should I start researching tech careers that involve less coding? How do people figure this stuff out? I feel so lost and confused

I’m currently a junior double majoring in Computer Science and Data Science and honestly feeling pretty discouraged right now. I spent a lot of time applying for internships this cycle and still haven’t landed one. I’ve had some interviews/OAs but nothing ended up working out.

I originally thought I wanted to go fully into software engineering, but throughout college I realized I don’t actually enjoy coding that much outside of Python/data-related work. I like analytics, visualization, AI/ML concepts, and using coding as a tool, but I don’t really enjoy grinding code such as LeetCode 24/7 like a lot of people around me seem to.

Now I’m mainly interested in data analytics, AI engineering, or other data-focused tech roles, but I’m worried I realized this too late. I have projects, coursework, and technical skills, but it feels like everyone else already has experience and I’m falling behind.

At this point, am I cooked if I don’t have an internship by junior year summer? Should I start focusing on fall internships/co-ops instead? Also wondering what kinds of projects/skills helped people break into analytics or AI-related roles without prior internship experience.

Would appreciate honest advice from anyone who’s been in a similar position.
