Rough Country Ball Joint Failure After 17k miles and 16 months

I put a Rough Country 3" kit on my 2020 F-150 16 months ago. After only 17k miles of city driving, and some minimal dirt roads the ball joints in the upper control arms are failing. Never taken off-road. Rough Country agreed to replace parts but shop wants $800 in labor. Does this price seem fair? What should I do? I don't have the extra money for this expense right now.
