How strict are SF landlords about credit scores right now?

I’m planning a move to SF later this year for work and I’m starting to look at apartments, but honestly my credit isn’t amazing right now (mid 600s depending on the app). My income is stable and I’ve never been evicted or anything, but I keep hearing horror stories about needing near-perfect credit to rent in the city. I’m mostly looking at studios or 1BRs in neighborhoods like Inner Sunset, Richmond, or maybe North Beach if I get lucky.

For people who’ve rented recently, how strict are landlords/property managers actually being? Is income more important than score? I have a good income but my score ain't the best.
