So, I adopted my cat on July. She's just one year old. Since I have had her she wakes me up multiple times during the night to open the door let her in or let her out. Even if I leave the door open she'll wake up early in the morning by stepping on me, biting my hair or even my face softly.
Initially I thought that my cat was just hungry so I started feeding her very late in the night and playing with her before going to bed so that she would be more tired and could sleep more hours. It work just a tiny bit.
She still wakes me up after eating and I realized that every time I decide to actually wake up because she has been stepping on me, meowing and biting me she stops right after. She simply wants me to wake up. Even if I stay in bed she stops bothering me or even coming up to me if I am awake. As soon as I fall asleep again she will come wake me up.
So, I decided a few days ago to close the door and just actually ignore her. She kept meowing nonstop. But since my partner wasn't home I didn't care because she's just bothering me.
Since I kept ignoring her she peed on my very expensive sofa. So I had to go back to letting her wake me up multiple times during the night to let her in and out and of course she's back into her routine of waking me up so that then she could take a nap or be around the house happily.
I am desperate. I adore my cat but I am exhausted. I literally haven't had a good night sleep for a year and a month since I adopted her.
