I’ve been shocked to see this because it feels wrong and outright illegal. At the VA I work at, I commonly hear of coworkers being told they can’t call out sick more than once every 3 months.

The supervisor in question is claiming there’s a “pattern”. I’d understand if someone calls out every Saturday, you’d have reason to suspect a pattern.

How can we fight back against this? If someone is not feeling well enough to perform their job (especially when we can infect patients), they shouldn’t be coming into work. Also, it’s none of their business why someone is calling out sick. A doctors note is only required after 3 consecutive days off
