Update: My baby (14yo) made it through her dental surgery!!
Just wanted to post an update since my last post gained so much engagement! I wanted to say thank you to everyone for their input and hopefully provide hope for those going through something similar.
As a refresher, I was very nervous for my 14 year old girl to go under anesthesia for a dental. She has a moderate murmur and IVDD. After full bloodwork panel, urine labs, an echocardiogram and xrays.....we made the difficult decision to do the procedure. We felt that it was in her best interest to alleviate any pain caused by her teeth and erase the possibility of tooth root infections or abscess so as not to impact her heart.
I was having a hard time facing her going under anesthesia and possibly not making it through but she did!!!! She did excellent! No issues whatsoever and she's recovering like a champ. She's bright and alert. She had her full dinner (broken into 2 spaced out meals to make sure she could tolerate it). She has gone to the bathroom. I'm so so so relieved. I cried when the vet called and said she was awake and alert.
If anyone has any questions about our experience please feel free to ask! I'm so grateful to be on this side of things and be able help ease the anxiety of another pet parent in the same boat.
