hi!! i recently made a post on here about where to start off just like generally as a total newbie. i got a lot of great responses! the community here is very nice!
basically, I'm a sixteen year old girl wanting to try hockey for the first time ever. I got a lot of great tips but i definitely need some guidance still haha.
It was pretty easy to find a rink near me, since i live right next to a hockey city, and theres actually a few rinks around me that my local team used to practice at lol.
My sister said she could take me next week! I'm super excited. it's gonna be my first time on an ice rink in actual years. what I'm planning is to go on the free days for maybe a week or two (saturdays and sundays), and see if I'm still wanting to do the lessons they provide on weekdays during the summer. Any advice on my plans would be appreciated as well.
NOW however I have some questions about equipment. My family's pretty broke lol but I can definitely save for a few things! Asking my parents to help me buy some stuff might also work, but I will definitely need to ask for something as inexpensive as possible (they are very cheap lol. I don't blame them).
Obviously I'm not gonna be buying full hockey equipment anytime soon, but I was wondering what to buy to practice at home. I see people practicing in their garages/basements, but what do I need to get to do that? I just need the basics. I'll update next week after my experience skating :))

TLDR; I'm looking for what basics I need to practice at home, and a cheap place to buy them.

Hi !! I am a sixteen year old girl and was wondering, generally, what it takes to play hockey. I feel like I've been relatively lazy the past few years lol and wanted to try something new, especially after me and my friend had gotten into hockey. My entire family is unathletic and made fun of me for even watching the pwhl and nhl lmao. I don't know if it would be something I'm into, but I dont really do much at school other than schoolwork, so I figured why not try? My sister said I would hate it lol but I wanted to get others perspectives.

I generally just want to do SOMETHING. I have always been more artsy, but I don't want to be 30 regretting not giving this a shot.

I know it's gonna be hard on my body but I figured I'm only young once. i have always been bad at sports but I'm not looking to go pro lol it would be for fun. I feel like a coach would take one look at my anemic self and sigh haha.

How do I get started? No amount of googling has prepared me. Where the hell do you even start with hockey? any tips are appreciated.
