Specifically for long drives though. So it might go something like 2 weeks without being driven, then 100 miles trip then 2 weeks not driven then 300 miles trip etc. so say 4-5k a year total but not used for pottering 3 miles to the local shops.

The 640d looks like it can be had for about half the cost of a decent b58 engined car, which was my first choice.

I would imagine the regular annual service costs will be slightly higher on a diesel but would the 2 week gaps in use cause issues?
