I've got some tubs colonizing right now and they're taking abnormally long (1 month and still not full). The grain colonization phase was also absurdly long (4 months). They're Jack Frost which I know are slow but now this slow, right?

I was wondering if it's the temperatures. I usually keep my room pretty warm, but I open the window at night. I don't really have anywhere else in my house to put it that is isolated and can be kept warm at all times. Do temperatures really matter that much?

Some questions about keeping JF in your rotation:

  • Is senescence an actual concern on our timeframes? How long does it take to actually occur when non-stop cloning -> harvesting -> repeat?
  • When it does happen, specifically for JF, how do you "go back to spores" with this strain? How are y'all collecting and storing genetics of your JF? I've heard spore swabs can work but are risky. Is there any way to take a spore print?

Bonus question:

  • People say to wait until the caps turn up and blue, but peak harvesting is when the veil tears, is this different genetically for no-spore-dropping strains, or is it just aesthetics?

Thanks in advance and mush love!
