Minakatatomi is more addictive than nicotine

Don't ever start using / maining this minor god. Shrine of the hunt seemed nice at first, now i'm trying to main another god and am shocked by how much trouble food income becomes when you don't have safe hunt inside your base. I'm 1900 elo, peaked 1950, and countless people have said i didn't deserve for abusing susanoo, mentionning stuff like raiju, typhoon, no eco upgrades... but really shrine of the hunt is what carried me probably so hard. Not having to think about hunt and negating all that mini game within the game, being so much more resilient to raiding, not having to make walls spanning cross the map, the walking time, the risk, all of it, the ability to entirely focus on aggression or other parts of your macro... insane.

Not to mention the fact wanyudo classical all ins are basically free wins against most non top level opponenents who greed fast 2TC.

Out of all the things i loved about japanese, it's the humble shrine of the hunt i miss the most by a mile. I'm not sure i even wanna bother learning something new, so many variables and stress, when minakatatomi has been the awnser all along...

Playing with towers (pvp)

As i try to learn Tez, i am drawn to believe towers should be part of his gameplay in some form. I never use towers so this is new to me. Are there people with experience here who particularly enjoy using towers who can give advice ? Both offensively and defensively. I'm looking to try to play as Norse did before retold with loki > heimdall tower pushes. I have... interesting memories of playing against it, but i haven't seen this playstyle since i've played retold.

The one thing i'm almost certain of is that because of how costly the upgrade is, it might be better to start teching into them once your base eco researches are locked in, so about 8-10' in, to contest ennemy second gold for example. At least securing calpulis as aztecs.

I'm not really interested in all in full gamble cheese strats, i'd rather play this tower concept as a road bump for something bigger afterwards, kinda like kronos can rush > 2tc. Similarly, Tez has potential to get a lot of value rolling once heroic myth units start pumping.

Tez Exodia and devotion multipliers

While trying to get the sharpest Tez timing possible, i came to a few realizations :

  1. it's very fun to pull off

  2. the setup is intense

  3. there is unfortunately no need to go super sweaty on trying to optimize devotion output

Because of the way it's calculated, tech like Tecciztecatl's penance (+15% devotion) is useless even when it costs a flat 60 wood as even if you use it during sheep sacrifice and in mythic age while devoting your third settler, it gives... 2 bonus favor. Waiting for mythic age for Tez 40% devotion bonus is also useless as it effectively gives 1 bonus favor over sacrificing in heroic age.

I say 3rd settler because realistically you'll probably devote 1 early game for fighting or a mythic tech, and a second one to get the most sleeper busted tech in the game, Coyoxauhqui's stone, aka Aztec Forge of Olympus.

Basically even with perfect setup your 3rd settler will give 32 favor rather than 29. Hopefully this is clear.

If Penanance and Tez bonus stacked AFTER the x2 multiplier, then it would be amazing. Rather than 31 (13×2 + 3 + 2) it would give 40-41 ([13x2]×1,55). Now that would make it worth it to tryhard a timing and roleplay some solar eclipse timed sacrifice thing.

But it would also probably be broken as the Tez Mythic timing is extremely strong because it has ragnarok levels of impact power while having forge of olympus levels of staying power. Adding Starfall recast on top would be crazy...

So out of convenience, i'd say you can ignore devoting in mythic and Penance tech. Just sacrifice sheep as you click mythic, and devote 4 vills within the minute.

Can somebody test if Tez's devotion bonus works on the passive favor income after devoting a settler ? For example sacrificing 20 settlers should give 0.29/s, but is it 0.40 in Mythic age ?
