I have been backpacking for around 4 months now in Latin America and I have been wearing an old pair of flip flops that i have worn since 2023 (i know it’s such a long time but they are the only ones I’ve found that don’t run at all so i wore them for longer than i should!) I didn’t notice any pain in my feet though

On 14 April, I started a sailing trip from Colombia to san Blas lasting 5 days. For 5 days we did not west any shoes not even flip flops as we had to walk around the boat barefoot and then landed on remote islands where we would also be barefoot

About 4 days in i noticed a pain in my left foot. The pain is on the front part of my foot like at the bottom of the toes and goes across my foot. If i put pressure there it hurts particular under my middle toes. It hurts if I put any weight on it when i walk. My left foot is also swollen permanently and as i cannto really walk on my left foot i am limping

My left ankle has also started to ache and feels a bit like it’s twisted but i wonder if that is due to me walking strangely

I have started icing it every so often and i also stopped wearing flip flops and am wearing my new balance fresh foam trainers as this puts less pressure on my left foot but i am still in a lot of pain and am relying on pain killers. It has now been two weeks since this happened and there is no improvement

I am currently in ecuador so will need to pay for medical trestment do you think an x ray is needed? Or will this heal alone? Do I need to rest it completely - i am meant to surf all next week and then go to Peru and hike but i am wondering if i need to cancel all these plans
