At my last appointment (38w), my midwife said the baby’s head is 1/5 engaged and commented ‘it’s the most engaged it can be without being in labour’.
This week (almost 40w) a different midwife said I’m 2/5 engaged. She was confusingly also using the reverse measurement style (Eg 5/5 is the most engaged).
Is it possible the head has retreated that much?
I know head can move a lot but I thought when it was fully engaged it was likely to stay that way.
+ Should I even pay attention to this - it all seems very manual and not foolproof, like using a measuring tape.
Any similar experiences welcome! Thank you.
