Hello everyone, my dad was diagnosed with t2 about 11 years ago and had reversed it through diet and exercise but after some recent blood work, his A1C is at a 7.8 now.

His regimen before was pretty strict (like only boiled chicken and vegetables) and this time I was thinking of getting him a glucose monitor to help monitor what foods make him spike to make this diet change more long lasting. I was wondering if there are any tips for testing or how to best to test foods? I was around 10 years old when was really last dealing with this last time so I am trying to learn everything I can to help him out so he doesn't have to worry as much. I make a lot of meals for him now but I don't want to completely restrict his diet regarding some foods if I don't need too. Any help is much appreciated thank you!!!
